Orange Rotary Club provides a check for $25,000 to TLC Charter School
As principle Jessica Tunney describes TLC Charter School: TLC embraces the “whole child” in our approach to teaching and learning at school. We understand that children’s experiences, interests, and individual strengths matter, and we celebrate what makes each of us a unique and special learner. In addition to academic learning and progress at school, our staff encourages student friendships and helps students develop the problem-solving and interpersonal skills they need for our complex and connected world. Orange Rotary Youth program director Adrienne Gladson and Ankit Shah learned of a need for sports equipment at the TLC elementary school spring of 2022. A call was put out to Orange Rotary Club members for sports equipment for the students of TLC. We collected a variety of sports balls, jump ropes, and a soccer net. During that time it was discovered that their campus was also in need of a safe play playground. It was determined that the best playground for TLC would be a SNUG PLAY Playground. The overall project cost was approximately $32,000. Orange Rotary pledged $25,000 to project SNUG PLAY, TLC worked hard to fundraise and obtain the remaining balance. On April 12th Orange Rotary Club President Pat Buttress, President-Elect Jim Gilmore, Past President Ankit Shah, and Youth Services Director Adrienne Gladson, presented Jessica Tunney with a giant check for $25,000 in front of the entire school, teachers, and parents.
The kids waited in 2 lines patiently for their turn on the new SNUG PLAY playground. The kids were full of smiles and laughter! That's what I call success!
